Yes - it is really a pain. Although I like OpenSolaris the procedure of updating it can be improved a lot. The package server itself seems to be not very reliable: each update run has to be restarted several times: and even more worse - it cannot be restarted. Imagine: after downloading about 1.3G for updating your process aborts and you need to download all that stuff again.
